How Will I Recognise Your Car?

All of our vehicles are silver and have the EcoCabs logo printed on the side so it’s easy to find us.

Can I Pay By Card?

Drivers don’t have the facility to take card payments. However, if you are pre-booking your journey our office can take payment over the telephone or through the website.

Do You Accept Dogs In Your Taxis?

Yes, we do accept dogs. However, muddy or wet dogs may incur an extra charge.

How Much Time Will I Need To Get To My Destination?

This is dependent on factors such as the time and day. Our office staff are knowledgeable on routes and times so you can call: 01434 600600 for an estimated journey time.

Why Are You Called Ecocabs

This is due to our ongoing commitment to be as environmentally responsible as possible. Clearly transport has a major impact on the environment around us and one of the major steps that we have taken is to ensure that every single vehicle that we run, operates on locally produced Bio Diesel. This fuel is produced largely from renewable sources including locally grown maize and produces less greenhouse gases.

In addition, when we need a new vehicle we look to purchase top quality second hand cars and buses as this results in us effectively recycling an entire vehicle rather than purchasing a brand new vehicle and using all of the raw materials and energy that this would require.

We recycle as much company waste as we can such as paper, plastic bottles and ink cartridges and we even look to recycle items such as empty water bottles that are often left in our vehicles by hikers and cyclists who we transport around the country.

How Far Do You Travel?

The majority of our work is based in an area of approximately 30-40 miles around Hexham. However, we regularly travel to the four corners of the country including locations such as John O’Groats, Southampton, West Cumbria, Wales and the East coast of Yorkshire. Wherever people need transport to, we are happy to provide it. That is why working for Ecocabs can result in such an interesting and varied working life.

What Is Your Biggest Vehicle?

Currently our biggest vehicle is our luxury 22 seater Mercedes mini coach.  This is available for general day out trips, weddings, party nights and walkers/cyclists trips.

What Hours Do Ecocabs Work?

We provide a 24 hour a day, 7 days per week service. In order to cater for people having to travel at any time and to any destination.

What Is The Largest Vehicle You Have?

We have a wide range of vehicles for different party numbers ranging from one person to 22 people.

How Will I Know The Driver At The Airport?

Our drivers are all uniformed and drive our cars with the distinctive EcoCabs logo. You can request a personalised Meet and Greet which will consist of the driver meeting you in the arrivals hall with a card displaying your name.

Can I Request A Quote?

Our staff will provide you with a competitively priced quote no matter what length of journey you require.

Does It Cost More For A Taxi At A Certain Time Of Day?

Our fares are operated on three different tariffs:

  1. The most frequently used is between the hours of 7.00 to 23.00
  2. This is around 20% more and is between the hours of 23.00 to 7.00 and all day Sunday
  3. This is an increase of 40% and is used for all transportation on UK public holidays

Example:

  1. Between 7.00 and 23.00 a taxi would cost £10.00
  2. Between 23.00 and 7.00 the same journey would cost £12.00
  3. On a bank holiday the same journey would cost £14.00

If I Need A Taxi For A Short Journey But You Need To Drive A Further Distance To Collect Me – Will This Affect The Cost?

Due to the location of many rural villages within the area we need to operate a standard charge for this type of journey. However, you will be notified of this upon booking.

Are Your Vehicles Suitable For Wheelchairs?

We have vehicles that can transport a wheelchair user as well as four passengers. This is to enable your whole party to travel together. All of our drivers are trained in using this facility.

When Will My Taxi Arrive?

Our team will give you an estimated time that the taxi will arrive at. Please note that the time given is the arrival time not the leave time and is an estimation.

I’ve Lost An Item In One Of Your Cars, What Do I Do?

Our drivers are all trustworthy DBS checked and will always hand in any left items to the office for safe keeping. If you think you have left something in one of our vehicles ring 01434600600 and, if we have the item, arrangements can be made for it’s safe return to you.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

A fee is chargeable if the taxi has been dispatched prior to cancellation. For Adventure Packages and larger vehicles please see the terms and conditions for more information.

How Do I Get A Receipt?

The driver should be able to give you a handwritten receipt. If you need one subsequently contact the office on 01434600600.

If you have booked an Adventure Package you will receive a receipt in the form of an email.

What Is Your Waiting Time Policy?

Our drivers will wait for 10 minutes at the location agreed. After this waiting time there is a charge of 20p per minute.

What If My Flight/Train/Ferry Is Late?

If possible inform the office of your impending late arrival. We try and monitor plane arrival times to be at the airport promptly with minimal waiting time. This is not always possible with trains or ferries. We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your late arrival.

Can You Be Booked For Events?

Certainly, if you have a large event planned give us a ring and we will work with you to provide the most cost effective solution to your transport requirements.

Can I Keep A Driver All Day?

We can arrange to have a driver at your disposal for the whole day if required. This would generally have to be pre-booked. For daily rates and individual bookings contact us for more information.

What Vehicles Do You Have?

We have a large fleet of mini-coaches, minibuses, people carriers and taxis from 4 to 22 seats so we are able to accommodate a vast range of transport needs.

Do You Have Child Seats?

We have child seats available for pre-booked journeys on request.

What Do I Do If My Taxi Hasn’t Arrived?
