Eco Cycle Adventures is based in the heart of stunning Northumberland approximately half way along this beautiful but sometimes challenging route and with 10 years of experience in bicycle holidays, we are ideally placed to help you enjoy a trip along this unique route.
The Coast to Coast route runs from Whitehaven on the West coast of Cumbria, across the breadth of England to finish on the East coast at Tynemouth.
Travelling through the heart of Cumbria and the Lake District and across the Pennine moors to the urban spread of Newcastle and Tynemouth this route encompasses the wide open spaces of the hills and moors as well as the gentle valleys and softly bubbling brooks that makes this landscape so typically, England.
Travelling through towns such as Keswick, Penrith, Stanhope, Allenheads and Newcastle this can be a challenging route with several steep climbs including, Hartside Pass east of Penrith, Crawleyside Bank at Stanhope and The Struggle at Garrigil, but once you have conquered the hills the long descents can be invigorating.
Pick up from chosen arrival point and arrive at the Whitehaven start point. Take your picture alongside the C2C marker and do the traditional ‘Dipping of the Wheels’ on the slipway. (Watch out for the very slippery green algae). Travel via Keswick to arrive at Penrith.
Depart Penrith and travelling via Alston and Garrigil cross the border from Cumbria into Northumberland to arrive at Allenheads.
Depart Allenheads and with most of today being downhill towards the coast via the Waskerley Way arrive in Tynemouth in time to have a well-earned coffee and cake at the Barca Art Cafe or a plate of fish and chips at the award winning Marshalls fish restaurant.
