Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited castle in England, and has been the home of the Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309. The Alnwick Garden, just a few minutes’ walk from Alnwick Castle, is one of the world’s most exciting contemporary gardens. Only ten years ago, the site was derelict and forgotten. The Duchess of Northumberland began to create a beautiful public garden for families to enjoy, and from her bold vision, The Alnwick Garden project began.
